It's a low pressure pump that feeds fuel to your high pressure / injection pump.

It is located on the sdie of the fuel filter housing. I think it is located under a black plastic cover

Or if it has been replaced at the dealer already then it is in the fuel tank.....

It is just that, it lifts the fuel from the tank to the injection pump. Without the lift pump it overworks the injection pump leading to premature failure to the tune of big $$$$$$$$.

Depending on the year, it is mounted on the back of the fuel filter housing and pulling fuel from the tank, pushing it through the filter to the injection pump. IIRC sometime in 2005 they finally switched to an intank pump that pushes the fuel from the tank through the filter to the injection pump. Because electric fuel pumps work better at pushing than pulling, lack of engine vibration and heat the intank models appear to be more dependable and have a much longer life. There are those guys that remove the factory pump from the system and replace it with a Walbro, FASS, Air Dog or some other aftermarket system.

Wait a minute..... That should have been free...... The LP is covered under the Engine warranty and you have no deductible until after the 5th year. Warranty is as follows.

1-5yrs/100,000 miles = No deductible
6-7yrs/100,000 miles = $100 dollar deductible.
