Question LF3894 on a 2005?

My dad has a 2005, and I am wondering if his engine (I havent looked at it yet) uses the same oil filter as my 1998 12valve.

I know my previous 24v could use the same filter, and I am just wondering if the new engines are any different.

We want to buy cases of filters, and split the cost.

Thanks.

Yes, it can use the same filter. The new filter has a fluted can, which lets you get a cap-style filter wrench on it. I think the new Part # is 16035 or something like that.

Anyhow, the 3894 will work just fine.

Hohn is correct. The 3894 works fine. I use it on my '04. The ONLY difference between it and the 16035 is the fluted end. If you don't use the oil filter wrench that fits on the end and uses the flutes, then you don't need them. Generally the 3894 is about a buck a filter cheaper. Of course you can use the 16035 on your Dad's truck also. Either works on either.

Thanks guys. You can get them by the case from Geno's. You just have to call and ask.

I like getting a case becuase I hate re-ordering, and I know they will get used. Between me, my brother, my dad, and my fatherinlaw, the filters will get used.

There are several DC dealers that sell on ebay. They will often have cases of oil filters.

It's worth mentioning that the Fleetguard filters used in OTHER ISB5.9 applications WILL NOT WORK on your truck.

The filter head is different in the Dodge application. The threaded part on the Dodge application is smaller diameter, so an RV filter will be too big to screw on.

Don't ask how I know this

I ordered a case from napa and with my discount from being a regular customer and buying a full case I got them for about 4.50 each.
