Leaking Injector

I'm pretty sure that I have a leaky injector - white smoke & a miss on startup. The truck has been reflashed twice, but still no better. When an injector leaks down (if that's what happens) does it dilute the engine oil? Am I incurring engine damage because it's taking so long to fix this injector?

I had the same problem with my truck 04 35004x4 it took two weeks at the dealership to figure out what was wrong with it and another week to Fixit the problem was the fuel rail pomp not the injectors. It was running rough at idle and white smoke was coming out of the exhaust it was also a hesitation win putting the gas pedal down. That fixed the problem good luck with the dealership.

Mine puffs white smoke at times, and misses at idle on cold start up, been reflashed, goind back to Lithia on Friday, they said possible injector bleeding off, and smoke at times possibly caused by "High fuel pressure solenoid valve sticking???"
Sounds corny to me, but if they fix it I am happy, because sometimes it smokes so much white smoke you can't see behind you. but it only does this occasionally, it misses every cold start up, after sitting for 8 hours or so. to test the injector theory yourself, when it starts missing, try romping the throttle about four times, and see if it comes back to a smooth idle, it is a good indicator that your injector has bled off, and your dealer will need the truck over night to diagnose, and do an injector cut out test. that is what they told me.

Mark,

My 325/600 started with white smoke and rough idle on COLD(overnight) startup about 7500 miles. At first would be for only 20-30 seconds. It got worse and longer over time. Did not have anything to do with weather, in Houston the coldest temp maybe 30* for a few hours. It had not done this at all before it started.

After a day of diagnostics at the dealer, which showed everything was fine, I told them to keep it overnight and have the Cummins tech start the truck in the morning. The tech and service manager started the truck the next morning. They agreed that something was wrong. Star instructed them to remove the exhaust manafold and let the truck sit overnight again. When started the cylinder that was producing white smoke had a leaking injector. #6 cylinder smoked, they replaced #6 injector and the cold start white smoke and rough idle went away. That was about 20,000 miles ago.
