Leaking coolant... anyone had it leak from here?

I was just wondering if anyone has had a leak of coolant from the 5" ( or so) rubber hose that connects the rad's coolant line to the heat exchanger. its metal most of the way but theres just a small section that is rubber. mine seems to be dried out and cracking.

yes it is very common. I just had mine leak last week. Grab a socket and reach in there and tighten her up and it will stop. Once you drain your coolant look at getting the auto tightening clamps rather than the worm gear type.

The hose is wire core type, just like transmission hose. I don't believe you ever have to change that piece out.

The hose can dry out and crack. I went to a dealer and the hose just looks like typical heater hose thats reinforced. They wanted 15 bucks for it! Luckly mine wasn't cracked, just needed to be snugged up.

It wouldnt leak much fluid. All the threads said it only leaked a little during temp changes, night time to mid day heat. or Vice versa. I just tightened the hose the other day and its stopped. My overflow was empty so I grabbed a bottle of coolant today and topped it off.

Mine leaks to. Its always done it and Ive yet to have to add any coolant (90,000 miles) so its not much of a leak. I have a spot in the garage abought the size of a dinner plate but it never realy gets any bigger.

Thats about one stupid piece of engineering. Mine leaked when I first got my truck. Thought is was tranny fluid till I got my figure on it. Had to search here to find out what the hech. Behind the turbo is not a good place for a rubber part even with a heat shield.

There are tons of threads on this leak. Seems to effect mostly 06.

Try tightening the clamps. 95% of the time that seems to be the cure.
