K and N filter add on

I have a 2003 5.9 L 4X4 that I tow a 25 foot 5th wheel. We live in Mountains in Northern NM so that is part of driving conditions. I was considering the Edge/juice but don't feel I need the power. I was looking more for mileage. After discussions with users of juice mileage wasn't a big plus. I discussed that with Diesel mechanic/Dodge CTD owner and he suggested a good filter/ intake kit, I was wondering if those of you that used the K and N what you had to say about it?? Thanx

Like Thunder said, just stay with your stock air box and mod it.

I have a K&N drop-in filter in my stock box. I frequently check for the "dusting" that others have warned about, but the intake tube has always been clean and I think my motor is doing just fine with it. That said, I'd be hard pressed to state that I've seen any improvement in mileage due to the filter replacement. Given the cost of it (~$70) if I had it to do over again, I'd probably go for a good quality dry drop-in. Hope this helps.

Modify your stock air box or get a S&B intake, I like those the best for the money, if you want a intake. As far as milage goes though, get yourself a SMARTY Jr. and get better milage and lower your EGT's...
