installing trans temp gauge?

5 years ago I would have agreed until a tech friend passed on the tip. A silicone rated for the liquid (water or oil) and the temperature is just easier to use and has not failed me yet. I have a big box of teflon tape I could send you if you like . But you're right, teflon still works fine.
