Injector help

I have a 2003 3500 auto I had #6 injector go bad so I replaced it with a used one unknown miles and it fixed it so about 2 weeks later the same thing replaced #5 withe a reman Bosch everything was good for a couple months,
So I start getting bad fuel smoke when I start it after it sits a while and rough idle si I buy 6 used injectors 3 with 10k and 3 with 80k and I put 1-4 in start it up and still rough idle so I drive it to work and notice fuel haze when I accelerate I started researching and find that my nozzles are 8 hole and the 4 I put in are 5 well I tear into it and change the nozzles from my old ones to the 4 new ones start it and it's like its running on 2 clyinders and smoke like crazy so I try a few combinations and nothing changes now I've put it back like I originally had it still no changes
Ant throwing all theese codes

You need new injectors. All those codes are normal. Probably you powered the ECM with the injectors solenoids wires disconnected. If not, you'll also need a new Valve cover gasket. I know it sounds expensive but I promise you it's cheaper then a shot head or more. Good luck.

Like Z said clear the codes and key off key on and see which codes pop back up.

Ok I bit the bullet and bought brand new Bosch injectors 2100$ put them in and things are a lot better but now I have rough idle at cold start up and fuel smoke for a couple minutes then clears up and seems to run fine except for blow by and oil leaking from tube
Took it on a 14 hr trip last weekend and it took 6-7 quarts of oil
Please tell me I don't need a rebuild!!!
Thanks

It might be the turbo, but you need to check blowby and compression, probably need a rebuild.

Turbo was replaced not long ago but what's the bed way to tell if it's the turbo?

Kyweasel:

First of all,...WELCOME TO DTR Sir!

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your 2003 Dodge CTD CR.
To check your turbo first remove the air intake that fits onto the compressor side of the turbo. Look at the compressor wheel and look to see if you see any "scrape" marks on the turbo housing. The wheel itself should NOT be touching the housing in anyway. Also, you can grab hold of the nut on the shaft which holds the wheel on and see if there is any "play" in that wheel and shaft. A small amount of "play" is O.K. but if that shaft and wheel feel real loose and you see scrape marks in the housing as I stated above, then you may need to have the turbo rebuilt or replaced.

Hope this helps you some Sir!

Would the turbo cause fuel smoke at cold start and rough idle?

Nope, usually injectors or compression issues.

Ok got new injectors, may have gotten a bad one but not likely but bad injector shouldn't cause blow by so prob broke ring or burnt piston
Guess I'll be pulling the head to take a look😡

You should do a compression or leakdown test first. Sometimes you can't see the broken ring, or tell which cylinder it is just by looking at it.

Kyweasel:

If you have a friend or contact at the local Dodge Dealer, take it to them and let them hook up their DRB Scanner for you and do a "cylinder deactivation" on each and every cylinder. That should narrow down on what is going on with your truck. Also, some of the aftermarket diesel shops have those same scanners.
