ugh......so this could go either way and all I want is to keep the truck and have it fixed.
If you're keen on the truck, drop in a new motor and be on your way

Grapevine Dodge here in Grapevine 121/114 have given me decent service the past year or two. Worth giving them a call to look at/work on the truck. Phone # 817.410.7500 for service. Or Harvis Grammer, service manager @ 817.410.7552

And I plan on it. I have been talking with a guy on here that has one for sale. I am either gonna get it shipped to Iowa or take the truck to him to get installed.

Now I just have to get 2 dodge dealers to give me an estimate or 2 national chain auto service centers to give me 2 estimates to turn into the insurance company.

I had it tested today and #3 and #6 came up to check when they shut down each injector. #3 had 400 psi and #6 had 200 psi compression. And I can't use the estimate from him since it needs to be an ASE certified shop and a franchise like Dodge or a Chain repair shop. Any know of any here in DFW I can run the truck too tomm morning before I head off to Iowa with the boat?

I will let you all know how this turns out.

Wow not a chance I would take, that ring could break at any point then you would be really f'ed especially with a boat.

I've bought 2 vehicles off of Ebay with good success. I always found an independent mechanic nearby to do an inspection at my cost. And that was done before I made arrangements of any kind, funds, travel, etc. I would not consider a vehicle purchase without an inspection prior to paying.

I've sold tractors and const. equipment and never had a problem.

Be thorough in descriptions when selling, and be prepared to back up any claims with evidence. Ask a lot of question, ask for paperwork, presume the worst when buying....

I hope your venture work out to your satisfaction. What a mess!

Since the problem first started with the first owner, there has been put on 7,000 miles since then. The first guy to buy the truck from the dealer on Ebay before me drove it from Sherman, TX to California before he noticed the problems and he was from Oregon and he turned around and drove it right back to Texas. Then I purchased it. I drove it from Dallas, TX to Houston, TX on sunday and brought the boat back with me to here in Carrollton, TX. It didn't skip a beat and ran flawless. It got 24.0 mpg on the old lie a meter on the way day and pulling the boat on the way back it was 18.7 mpg. I haven't hand calculated the whole trip yet. But here I will do it right now, I averaged the whole 562.6 miles round trip @ 15.41 mpg.

The truck was inspected by my sister and brother in law here in Texas. But the dealer had plugged the crank case vent hose to hide all the blow by. And they had warmed the truck up as they knew when they would be there so then it wouldn't idle rough. The dealer was prepared. Next time I will make sure to have someone take the oil fill cap off.

Yes this has been a mess and a very big learning expierance. I asked alot of questions but the dealer lied about everything. And as soon as my sister and them picked the truck up and the dealer refused to give them the title and any paper work. I was immediatly packed and on the road from Iowa and drove 18 hours straight to suprise the dealer myself the next morning.

I hope this works out too, Thanks!! I just hope that Ebay's Insurance company will just pay for the repair so I can keep the truck instead of buying the truck from me.

Wow a brand new engine! I would make sure the shops diagnose that it needs a whole new engine haha. If the insurance is going to pay for it you might as well get a brand new 5.9!

I bought my truck off Ebay from a dealer in Fort Worth. They picked me up at the airport, had me inspect the truck, have sent me follow up letters to see if I am happy with my purchase......they had a great rating on Ebay, the car fax had come back in good condition........Many years ago........was a Pontiac dealer...........sorry about your experience.

If I go over a certain amount on repairs the Insurance company will just buy the truck from me. Then I am back to declining that and taking the dealer to small claims court and hope to get something back.

For what it's worth.
Last year Dodge warrantied my Cummins in my 2003, they paid for the engine and I had to pay for labor ( I was 2 weeks out of the 7/70000 but 1500 miles under). The total bill was $12,000 for a crate motor which was a reman from Cummins, the labor was $1500. I signed and payed the $1500 and went about my business. This also came with a 1/12000 new warranty on motor.

I wish I could get some luck like that. But this has 248,000 miles. so I kind of doubt they would cover it.

Just trying to give you a ball park figure for a new reman motor directly from Cummins will cost, not trying to scare or anything.
I know you have a lot on your plate right now, you still want that air horn right? I am not pushing just want to make sure, I'm OK waiting if yes.
