How tough are the AAM axles?

Just how tough are the AAM axles? I have always heard good things about Dana but never AAM. Isnt our rear axle the same axle behind the Duramax too?

PourinDiesel has a bunch of sled hooks on his factory axles, without breaking. I think they are pretty strong

Bent the front AAM and i think the front end might of come off the ground like a 1ft if that. Also bent a rear AAM in a ford f150.

These are stout axles. If you break one you have to be doing some serious stuff. Bending the front while jumping is understandable with 1000 lbs of engine coming down on it!

The Dana 60 can take way more air time than the AAM I know first hand with both.

Really?

The AAMs are physically so much larger than the Danas... seems as though the newer axle tubes/differential housings would be concomitantly stronger.

aams have a locker?

are you refering to the "govlock" or w/e its called, i believe that is just a limited slip.

info from my dmax friend says that the "govlocks" hold up great as long as you dont do donuts.... keep them burning in a straight line and they'll last forever.

Just lost a hub seal on the rear at 50,8xx miles. Broke 2 front u-joints so far and 2 front pinion seals. Truck sees nothing past a grassy field or gravel road but does snow plow alot. I'm still pleased with them though, no real broken parts yet.

The only way a dana could be stonger is if they use far superior metals.(they don't) the sheer increase in mass in the 11.5 AAM over the dana along with it's higher rating would all indicate that it would hold more.
