How to remove an ECM plug pin???

Installed the pin in the ECM harness plug for high idle, but I accidently put it in pin #23 instead or #22. Is there a way to get the pin out of the plug?
Tried pushing it back thru to no avail.
Any help appreciated.

Try using a small pin or piece of wire to release the catch.

I've read that you have to take a trip to the dealer. They have some sort of special removal tool.

BE CAREFUL!

It will come out, will take some coaxing though, it's a tight little spot too.....

Try to release the catch from the back side I presume?

You can get a tool to release the pin. I would try Radio Shack or a computer or other5 electronics store. I bet the tool used to work on serial connectors for computers would work. Look here http://www.radioshack.com/search/ind...e%20tools&sr=1

Look for "D-sub pin insertion and extraction tool"

I'm not sure if it's the right size or not, but it should be close enough to make it work.

I bought a little tool at a parts store. It was hanging with the electrical connectors. It is 6 sided with small hollow tubes of various sizes. It is made for releasing electrical pins. Like this, http://www.cyclepages.com/ProductGro...roupID=4601953

BTW, I believe you will need to use the tool from the inside of the plug.

Yep. It just pushes out from the inside. I have the correct tool, but it is not needed.

I used to work for the Cat Dealer and I had the tool in my tool box when I went to install my exhaust brake I used it on my Cummins It is just a little plastic tool and it works well. It should not cost very much and If the Cummins dealer doesn't have one I am sure the Cat dealer will.
