I have over 150,000 on the original lp in my early 04 and thinking of getting a replacement from Genos for when the inevitable happens. How hard would it be to replace on the side of the road? What tools do you need, and are there any instructions online anywhere? thanks for the help.

 

If it's just a replacement filter mounted pump, you can do it in 10 minutes hood open to hood close.
Unplug wire harness
Remove 4 allen(?) bolts holding pump on back of filter housing
Remove feed line from bottom of old pump
Put fuel feed line on new pump with clamp
Press nipple into housing
Replace 4 bolts
Plug in wire harness
Turn on key to prime filter ( you might have to bump starter )
Get Back on the road.
Tools needed: other than allen wrench( cant remember the size) a pair of pliers for the squeeze clamp on the bottom of pump.

I've did it twice on mine before I got rid of the crappy design. Keeping a spare filter and pump relay might be a good idea also. The second time mine went it burned the relay also. I just pulled a swap to get me to Napa.

You're definately on borrowed time. Why not put a good aftermarket one in at home instead of a crappy stock replacement one in on the highway?

5mm allen bolts. Not hard to do.

 

Replacement pumps are hard to find. I'd like to have a spare.

Yeah, good way to go if you're still under warranty. Replace it while the old one still works before you have to do it on the side of the road. When I'm out of warranty I'll get a real pump.
