It should be under "Engine" Then "Misc Function" and then "IDLE UP ENABLE" follow instructions from there...I am going in to the dealer in 25 minutes I will let you guys know if it works.....

Yup. When you go into the "Idle Up Enable" screen it even pops up with what it is and how it works..then you go to the next page where you can enable/disable it.

From the time of plugging in the DRB it's "run internal DRB *something*"..."Diagnostics"..."Engine"...and so on.

The DRB does need to be upgraded, but I think anything in the last 6mo should work.

Does anyone know the real reason they will not enable the high idle on the 6 speeds. My dealer does not know.

mchildress- It's probably safety related.

I'd like to know whether the computer locks this feature out on a manual tranny OR do they depend on a technician have final say.

If the tech has final say....well, you can probably figure out where I'm going with this

I suspect it's because the manual tranny doesn't have "Park".

The auto tranny is fly-by-wire. You can tell when you shift it that the something is transferring the shift lever commands to the tranny and it's most likely the computer.

So this allows the computer to tell when the truck goes out of "Park", which then immediatly disables the high-idle if it's on.

How would the computer be able to tell if a manual tranny has been shifted?

Maybe I'm wrong but I bet there is/has always been alot more going on between the computer and the auto-trans than the computer and the manual tranny.

This allows them to make this feature alot safer.

DT.
