How does our torque managment work?

Is torque managment always there, or is it just when starting out in first gear? Or is it related to speed and throttle position? Curious

Thanks

As I understand it, it is managed by speed and gear that the trans is in. I believe that there was a post on what rpm the engine is as well.

Imagine that it is a sliding scale and not a "switch".

TQ management is not really TQ management, its actually fuel management.

The ECU contains a set of tables that controls how much fuel is available at a certain rpm adjusted for temp, boost, and throttle position.

Example: WOT throttle at 1600 rpms only gets about 40% of fuel available by throttle position as the boost and rpm come up the fueling rate is adjusted until it meets the throttle position requested.

Without modification fuel management is in effect until rpms exceed 1800 then its influenced by available boost.

Shift defuel is another item entirely where the ECU momentarily defuels on a shift point to keep from killing the transmission.

Thank you...It was explained to me once that it only came into play in first and second gear, but I always noticed more acceleration if I stepped on it while doing freeway speeds if I had it set on a more aggresive tqm setting in the JR. Makes since that there is more variables involved. Just recently switched to one step above stock tqm to try and reduce the smoke on acceleration. Im also running version 18 on my JR. Incase you were wondering, dont like the newest version.
