How to delete DTCs without code reader?

My code reader doesn't do CAN protocol. I see a couple codes via the key/odometer method, I would like to delete these DTCs because I know their cause and they aren't a real issue, and I am sick of looking at the check engine light. I tried disconnecting the batteries but the codes stayed in place. Are these stored in nonvolatile ram in the ECM or can I somehow delete these without buying another code reader?

There was a thread on this but I can not find it. I thought it said to disconnect batteries and turn the key on for about 30 seconds.

I haven't had to do it on this truck yet {knock on wood}, but can't you just go to your local auto parts store like Autozone or Advance and have them clear it for you?

if the problem has been corrected, the light and code will clear itself after several heat up/cool down cycles.
