High Idle Enable-is there a TSB?

I have to take my truck to the dealer Saturday to have a P0514 and a P0111 code cleared, and I wanted to have the High Idle Enable installed in my truck while I was there. Is there a Dodge TSB for this, or do I just tell them I want it enabled?

I would have never known about that High Idle if it hadn't been for this forum! What a great place to learn and hang out! Thanks!

Its mentioned in the owner's manual, so they should not have any problem with it

Some people go do dealers and ask about it and they look at you like you are stupid. Some know exactly what your talking about. It's hit or miss depending on you dealer...

i just had mine done on my manual. it was a bit of a hassel but when i took it in, i just asked if while they were in there if they could enable it for me. course i already had my pin grounded (for the manual) and it worked. they were impressed because they thought i was an idiot for wanting it on a manual.

When you get the high idle enabled also get all the other options turned on at the same time.....like the power on till the door opens and other features you may like....they will probably do it for cheap (maybe nuthin) if they are already doing a flash.

There is a TSB for the 2004 but it does not apply to the 06 model. I had SM check with Dodge and they said they only pay for things like a reflash not to get high idel turned on. It cost me $35.00 + tax to have mine done along with DRL= Day light Running Lights and power on after key of turned off for the max time of 10 min. or until the door is opened. BTW, I have heard of some doing it for free but very few will do so.

Good Luck.

i think there is a forum running around on here somewhere that will tell you how to do it.
buy a pigtail from cummins (P/N 3164263)
Or order the clutch switch kit from CUMMINS NOT dodge. (https://quickserve.cummins.com/qs2/q...witch_kit.html)

insert the pigtail into slot 22 on connector b of the ecm (from left 3rd row down 2nd pin in) the connector has to be removed and push a paper clip in the slot to remove the water plug.

ground the other end of it. and get it enabled....works like a charm (take the paper from the cummins website in and show them. most will be happy to help you....just tell them you have the kit already)

I just went for the pin and grounded it, if you buy the kit when you press the clutch peddle it disables the high idle (safety feature). when you press either the brake, or start to move it is automatically disabled anyway, i saw it as more of a redundancy thing.

PM me if you would like more detail or pictures.

High Idle followup.

Well, I went to the dealer yesterday to get the P0111 and P0514 CEL errors cleared. I asked the service tech to turn on the high engine idle, and he told me it already was turned on !! I showed him how I tried to use it, and my problem was that I wasn't holding the "Set" button long enough after turning the "Cruise" on. On my truck, you need to hold the cruise about 2 seconds for it to work. The emergency brake does not have to be set on the 2006 for it to work, which was great news. I was in and out of the dealer in 40 minutes, codes cleared and a happy CTD trucker again!!

It works very well. I inquired last year about the high idle on mine and was told 650 dollars installed. BS!
It cost me nothing. grounding the pin. Now I have high idle!
