High Idle (Again, Maybe different)

This has many threads about the high idle, but I thought I would skip abunch of reading and probably no one has asked this about it. Can the high idle be turned up for regular driving. With a load turn it up, and maybe turn it down for longer idling.

It only works for idling the truck in Park. Once you put your foot on the brake to shift, it idles bick down to normal~750 rpm or so. You can idle it up from 1000 to 1400 or so, but only in park

Neutral works too. Don't even need to set the brake.

I mean like the older trucks you could turn the idle up and down for driving. My dads 2000 runs at around 850rpm. Put less strain on the engine with a load.

Apparently it has been adjusted on. It idles at higher rpms than mine and the 97 we had. It looks like it was used as a hot shot truck (I wouldn't have since it has 3.55 rear end), they might have turned the idle up to handle heavier loads without touching the throttle.
