help needed for dead 04
Friends 04 still isn't running, lift pump is in the tank, we got lots of supply pressure. Cracked open the banjo bolt on the high pressure side of the injection pump while cranking and nothing, in fact a dribble of fuel came through the pump when key was in run position but none came out while cranking, then he pulled the high pressure side banjo bolt completely out and still no fuel when cranking. I'm thinking maybe needs injection pump, I asked if there is a selenoid fuel shutoff somewhere in the help thread I posted on this truck but nobody answered.

I don't know if this will help but I have an 04 that just stopped on me three times. Towed to dealer who replaced in tank lift pump(twice) a rail pressure modulator(not sure if this is the right term) and a complete set of injectors and they could still not get fuel to the engine. After two weeks the technician dicovered a corroded ground wire that was installed when I had a factory wiring harness installed for my camper. That repaired and it's running as new with several new parts I did not need. Total bill was over $8000 and it cost me $192 for the diagnosis. Rest was on Chrysler.

He had it towed to dodge dealer, they say it needs all 6 injectors, how do you loose all 6 injectors at one time? I told him to tow it over to haisleys, but van couldn't get to it for a couple weeks. Ted, where was that corroded ground wire? A general question about this truck, the injector application breaks down to pre 04.5 and after 04.5, the build date on his door is december 04 which puts it on the cusp of midyear build. One thing we found while trying to get it running was extremely dirty fuel filter, could he have plugged some injector nozzles?

An update, we got it running a couple days ago, it was the injection pump, local dodge dealer is either complete liar or totally incompetent. Put a good used pump on and it fired right up, the old one feels gritty when turning the shaft over by hand.
And just a reminder, never "crack" any lines out of the injection pump on a commn rail. The pressures are at least 5k at idle--and up to 23k at WOT. It can be very dangerous if your hand is in the wrong place.
