Has Anyone Tried This?....

Now that we are on (or close to the end of) a change at the diesel pumps to the lower sulfur diesel and non-full synthetic oils, some people are worried about the longevity of their engines due to the lack of lubrication in out CTDs.
I have read numerous posts on people trying things like adding a little bit of 2 stroke oil or marvels mistery oil to a fill-up for treatment of the new diesel.
But what about the brand that the past few generations of gearheads have used for a long time thats proven at what it does? Im talking about Slick 50. If you have ever worked on a motor that has had the treatment, you would know how good it really works by sticking to all the vital parts. You actually have a hard time holding on to the parts when taking them out.
Wont this work really well in our motors as far as for our oil and our fuel (Slick 50 fuel additive).
I dont know alot about diesel motors, so could someone shed some light on the subject for me?

Do they even make anything for diesel engines?

I think you can use it in diesel engines. I know that you can use the oil stuff in diesels. I have a buddy with a 05 that has treated his. He said his mileage went up a little and the truck is alot quieter.

Cummins oficial stand is do not use slick 50..........the base oil (carrier) is not of diesel Quality.
The Cummins can go 500k using good quality diesel oil why spend more on snake oil?

Sho Nuff, stay away from the "Fairy Dust"

I now work for FedEx Express and several of the Freightliner W700s we drive daily have with the 12V Cummins and are approaching 400K miles with Pennzoil 10w40 and maintenance I wouldn't wish on an enemy. They are driven daily far harder than most of us would ever drive our babies. They still run great and will most likely go another 400K easy. These engines are built tough and don't need "fairy dust" additives.

I thought that using 10-W40 oil in a diesel was a no-no.

I think his point is that even with the poor maintenance and non-diesel oil, the 12v's are still going strong.

I put some Mystery Oil in every few fill ups and it does quiet down the injectors and might get a little mileage (maybe 1 MPG). From the sound check it seems to do something good.
The other posts are correct, there is no need for the snake oil that promises increases of 3+ mpg its just ALL BS!!

Slick 50 as an oil additive is a joke. An oil filter should filter at least 10 microns and the smallest particle you can see with the human eye is about 40 microns. Therefore, the teflon powder in Slick 50 goes straight into your oil filter and stays there till you change the filter and throw it away.
I use a soy based bio-diesel additive in my fuel each fill. By adding 2 qts in 25 gallons, it gives me a 2% bio treatment. I see 1-2 mpg and the injectors are quieter. I've been running it for the last 12000+ miles.

Dodge has approved the use of synthetic 5w40 oil as per my 06 owners manual. That said I use Amsoil 5w30 HDD oil in mine and think its 2X better then the Rotella 5w40 synthetic oil I tried out for 3800 miles.
