Question Hardstart questions

I have read the threads on hardstarts and know there are others with the same problems.
I have taken the truck to the dealer 3 times for this problem. I have an 06 with the high output diesel engine. They have updated the computer system with two different fixes. Now the engine starts most of the time but I have dropped 8mpg and the alt is running on the very high side. The water temp is running hotter now also. Is the hardstarts going to cause any problems to the engine? Is the alt running so high going to damage anything?
I have also found that the wait to start light only turns on the first time starting durning the day. I always do up my seatbelt to give it time like I did in my other diesel trucks anyways. Is this normal in the new trucks?
Of course the dealer tells me that the temp and alt running high are normal with the new fix? I Know I am female but I do not want them to take advantage of me because of it.

Tx Lady,
I have an '06 2500 mega-cab, with all the patches to the ECM that were available in mid March when i picked up the truck. Several of the things you mentioned I dont see on mine
1. after the gridheaters stop cycling the altmeter reads slightly higher then 12 v
2. The Temp gauge is dead on where my '05 was right in the middle of the op tem range
3. My wait to start light comes on the first time i start the truck and then generall not again till it sites overnight

My starts at the same time first thing or after running a while seems like about 3-5 seconds

I would get a second opinion from another dealer. Sounds like the one you are using aren't getting to the bottom of the problem. At least call another dealer and see if they have encountered that same things. It will only cost you a phone call to check and might save you some heartache.
