Guys, Please help me diagnose a problem...

At idle my truck has a juingling sound coming from the front of the motor. It's a metallic sound like a pulley is loose or something. I cannot hear it from the cab but it is very noticeable if I walk to the front of the truck. I've heard it could be the tensioner. If it is how easy is that to replace? The truck runs great and the guages all show normal numbers. The truck has 107,000 miles. thanks a bunch

Does it change with RPM? Start with taking off your serp belt and look for loose pulleys. There should be NO sideways (wiggle) play. The tesioner and the idler pulley are likely culprits and both are easy to change. If those are good the next to check are the AC and fan since they have clutches in them. Check your belt for damage too.

I would inspect the tensioner and pulley's asap. They are not that hard to change out. The belt will give the majority of difficulty taking it of and putting it on.

The tensioner will usually bounce around when it is starting to go. VERY easy to change. I did mine a few weeks ago and it took around 20 minutes.

Change the belt while you are at it.

Check the water pump too. Mine made the same noise when it went out.

Mine had a similar noise. Kind of a mix of a ticking and rattling. Tighten the little blue clamps on the fuel lines and it's gone. Give it try, it's free. Don't torque on them just snug them up.

If it's you idler pulley you can replace just the bearing, same way with the fan pulley bearing if you have access to a press. If I recall correctly I go the idler bearing from NAPA for about 12$ and the fan pulley bearing was around 84$ I think. Just a tip to save you some money.
