Great Deal on 5W-40 Mobil1 Synthetic

WAL-MART!!

They are selling 5W-40 Mobil 1 FULLY synthetic Diesel Motor Oil. 4 quart jugs for $22.00

While our Cummins engines are built REALLY tough. Low winter temps make it VERY hard on our conventional oils to pump. Even DC recommends SYNTHETIC during winter months were temps drop below 30F.

I still have to break my engine in (6K). I will definitely switch to Mobil1 synthetic 5W-40 around 15K. That synthetic oil is the BEST oil (IMHO) around. I run Mobil1 in my other vehicles also. SYNTHETIC beats conventional oils hands down, especially in EXTREME low temps and extreme high temps.

Currently I am running Mobil1 synthetic in my front and rear differentials. When I do my transmission at 30K, I will switch to synthetic also.

I have gotten the mopar ATF +4 there. My Wal-Mart does not carry the Mobil 1 yet. I asked what version it is because Mobil told me not to use any Mobil oil except the Turbo Diesel type. I asked because I had some left which I had used for my gasser(SUV Truck).

$7.25 per qt does not constitute a "great deal" to me.

Sure it is a very good oil, one of the best out there, but there are certainly ones that compare very well, maybe even favorably to it via UOA, for less $.

If you have a Schaeffer's rep around, try their synthetic 9000 5w-40. $14-15bucks a gallon and AT LEAST as good a UOA as Delvac 1/TDT. I use it in our TDI, Dodge, Ford PSD, and farm equipment. It seems to post a spectacular UOA no matter what diesel application.

Walmart recently had a sale of 5w-40 Rotella synthetic for $3.50 a quart. Picked up 12 of 'em. I haven't seen the Diesel version of Mobil 1 there yet.

PADZZ -

The Mobil 1 that I am referring to IS a diesel version. It clearly states it on the bottle. On the back is shows that it meets & exceeds Cummins specs.

Good to know. I picked up 6 case of Valvoline PB for $6.00 per gallon at Flying J. But when thats used up, I usually try to use Mobil I. The tech said it would say turbo diesel on the bottle ,if I can find the right one.
