Got my 04 CTD today!

I'll post pics later but I got the truck and I love it! Tranny fluid looks clean and new, oil is full but I will change it because I just want to. I briefly looked under the truck and didn't see the oil filter! Where is that dang thing? It's a 4wd which I've never owned so I will need direction about that. The back differential looks dry but I will take pics of the front one and let y'all tell me what you think. What gear oil should I run in the front and back? How many grease fittings does this 04 2500 4wd have? I have tons more questions but will stop with these for now. Thanks!!!

It says 305 HP at 2900 RPM. That seems pretty good to me in the HP rating. It's a step up from my 97 F-350 7.3.

good deal, you will be happy with the mpg you get out of it, but be clear in telling folks later on that it is an 04/ 305 motor so you get the right parts as many of them do not interchange.

What is the 555? Is that what you can jack the HP up to if you want to?

Yep, you got a good one. If I had it to do over, I would probably get an 04 like yours instead of my 06. Congratulations!!!! How many miles does she have? Don't forget to post up some pics.

Fuel Filter is on other side of motor near the Master cylender. Gota use a 1 1/8 (could be wrong) socket with a swivel and at least 8 inch extension to make your life easy to change it. Just slide the yellow tab to other side and fuel will drain down by the Axle. Just follow the drain tube. Then just unscrew cap. Its just plastic so it comes off easy. Then just pop it off the cap. replace O ring and clip in new filter. Whats the 8th Digit of vin? I think they only have 3 grease fittings

Oil filter is on the passenger side, front of the motor.

The only difference... they might have installed a remote bypass oil filter, so find where the oil filter should be, if it is missing, look for lines coming from it and follow them.

The 8th digit of the VIN # is C. Does this truck have a "wait to start" display like my old 97 Ford 7.3? I haven't seen it pop up so I figured it doesn't.

Yes it does. It looks like a squiggly little yellow line in the middle of your bottom gauge cluster. Enjoy your truck I bought the first 03 305/555 at my dealership and have been in love ever since with my truck.

"Wait to start" is a little coily symbol center on the display.
