Gas engine pinging noise
Engine stayed quiet until Wed morning now back to the same rattle/knock noise and no more warranty. Dealer has already said they would only cover the valve adjustment even though I brought it to them for the rattle/knock and they adjusted the valves and noise is back.

I am gonna write. dodge an make a big deal of this. I am ******. I have owned nothing but mopars my entire life. Ran my GTX pro stock an have the penestar tattooed on my arm. I am ****** right now. Gone out if state for a week. Without truck rented a car cause I do not want to melt a piston or something else. They heard the noise adjusted the valves an than gave me the song an dance. It comes an hues an they can fix it or I will do on line everything I I can to make Dodge a product no one should by
Gone for a week out of town and truck sat. Drive to work this morning 70 degrees outside pinging like it has. Twelve miles later get to work no noise, was going to go back to the dealer but why bother with the noise once again gone. I guess I will just wait till it never goes away than get it checked again. It is very frustrating when you love Mopars take care of them, have problems and get blown away by the dealer. Like you said it should be still covered but they will only cover the valve adjustment.

Finally got my ultragauge and here are some numbers
1600 RPM F.P. 16,800 MAP 132 KPA
IDLE F.P. 6850 MAP 103 KPA.
Does this sound normal? Pinging noise is still there when truck is cold and just about goes away when up to temp after 10-15 miles but you can still here it. Have to program the gauge for manifold temp and see what that is. Shows no codes or pending codes. When you had a quiet truck for years and all of a sudden this starts something changed. Looking at all the forums some say this is normal noise but if that was the case how come I never had it before. Truck runs great and smarty tq settings have no difference in the noise from most tq to stock setting. What else should I look for with the untra gauge?

I would set up the UG to display Eng°F, Int°F (intake manifold), Amb°F (pre-turbo), rail pressure, boost, intake manifold pressure (kpa), ambient pressure (kpa).
What you want to do is let the engine sit overnight. Then turn the key on, but don't start. You are looking for similar readings.
Eng, Amb, and Int temps should all be ± 2°. The manifold and ambient pressures should be the same, and boost should be 0. Rail pressure should read 0, 20, or 49. All are normal for engine off.
Do you have a mechanical boost gauge? If so compare the boost on the UG to the gauge, the UG will probably read 1-2 psi higher across the board and that's normal. Big disparities will indicate an issue.
At sea level in Florida you should show about 101 kPa, the ambient pressure should be ± that number all the time. If it really changes that could mean the IAT sensor (pre-turbo) is out of whack. If it drops a bunch be sure to check your air filter, as it could be a restriction.
That's a good start. Just look for trends.
