Fuel Milage with 37's
Hey guys, i searched this but only got one good hit and the post didnt give all that much info. Im going to a 6in lift with 37's and i am wondering how bad it is going to tank my milage. I know around town which is 95% of my driving is already bad, so im mostly wondering about running on the highway @70. Any info would be great..i just want to know for sure what im getting myself into. Thanks a lot, Jason
my milage increased with my 37s as 90-95% of my driving is on highways and logging roads. my milage is noticably worse in bigger towns as i play around with the odd little ricer that trys to be loud and fast

This is were the REAL exageraters (sp?) come out.......I got 22 MPG hauling 30K lbs @ 105 MPH, or I get 800+ miles to my 35 gallon tank (because I did the tank mod and I can add 5 more gallons for 40 total and at 20 MPG is 800 miles and I love to run out of fuel
) or, I make 600 HP roll on 40's and get 23 MPG, or,______________(insert whatever BS you want to put in the blank)
Drive normal
and 14-16 @ town and highway will 15-18
By the way, a 6in w/ 37's
Too much clearance. You need 39's to 40's to fill the wheel well.
Don't expect a mileage increase. With teh added height (roll out) also comes with added width, and that means more surface area, which means more friction, which means more rolling resistance, which means any gain from the added rollout, will be negated by the extra rolling resistance and teh weight of the rims/tires

Thats Hilarious!!!!! Just posted on another thread about some guys talking 24 MPG with 40 in tires or something crazy like that!If your so concerned with mileage go buy a Yaris!
But you cant put 37in tires on that can you. If you could would you still complain about bad mileage?
I think the lift will hurt you more than the tires...but neither will do you any good. Got to cost you 10%, at least. JMO.

I cant say what mileage would be with the 6" lift and 37"s, but I can tell you my average with a 2" lift with 37"s. Around town its 13-14, but I dont baby it so it could be better. On the highway 70 is roughly at 2grand on cruise she'll get 17-19 depending on the wind. Anything over about 70-75 it drops down to 14-15. Thats hand calculated. Might be a lil worse with the extra 4" of height, but I do not know for sure.
Thanks for the honest responses.. i avg about 18-19 on the hwy hand calc so i was expecting 16ish @70..but hopefully a but more..trust me im not hoping to see whopping milage..i know it isnt going to be good..Jason
There is a member here, that was running 6" with 40"s, but I believe he had done some fender modding. I bet 6" with fiberglass fenders would work. Alot of the offroad race guys are tucking 37"s under the fiberglass with around 2-3" systems. Im sure your wheel choice is going to be the big factor in fitting them.
I just hate to see, 6, 8, 10+" of lift , and guys skimp on a small tire. Does not look right, to ME. It is my opinion, and I may get out voted 1000-1. Don't care. Little lift, biggest tire you can stuff for me.

Could not agree with you more. The fact that our trucks get great fuel mileage for a pig of a truck is a BONUS, not WHY I bought my truck.
If that was my concern, I would not have bought my truck. I also would not be able to work everyday, haul "x" amount of weight, throw "x" into the bed of my truck, or make my living driving a Editbox. I LOVED the thread the other day by some joker....."I want to make 500 HP, but I can't get under 16 MPG"
***!!! He wants to make an obscene amount of power, but yet, he is concerned about getting less than 16MPG
