My mileage sucks with 35s. I just got 14 mpg doing 80 mph on the highway driving 260 miles to Kingman, AZ from SoCal. Around town here I get 11-12 mpg, and I don't have a led foot.

For those wanting who care, I'm turning 2000 rpm at 80 mph.

If you have not done so, better budget in a trans rebuild sooner rather than later. The 35's willstart the stock trans going away. I guarantee the 37's will trash it in short order if you are making any power.

No, visiting wife's Grandmother in the hospital. But if I was smart I would have had them packaged and ready to go so I could send them from there. Probably would have saved you a few bucks!

I get 12-15 mpg towing 5,000 lb to 10,000 lb equipment, and about 16-18.5 mpg with only tools. But I live in HI, so I never am going over 65 mph and lots of stop and go with my 6 spd.

To the poster that said 2000rpm at 80...

I don't think 80 would be worth a darn even in my 2WD stock '03 if it could do 80 at 1800. That is just one HECK of a bunch of Aero drag!

I was considering 285/75-17 Toyos when I get tires, but am gonna go back to 265/70-17 Michelins so I don't screw up the mileage!

[QUOTE=SSminnow; I am going to run 37's with a leveling kit, and if I decide to run 39's, will add 3" of lift over stock (and some minor trimming)

You got something other than the DRW now?????????

I think any large tire will have more drag & rolling weight, that will more than offset the ratio advantage that it gives. Your MPG is bound to go down. And yes at these fuel prices, MPG does matter to me. I went with new BFG AT?KO's in E rated 265's.

I just hate to see, 6, 8, 10+" of lift , and guys skimp on a small tire. Does not look right, to ME. It is my opinion, and I may get out voted 1000-1. Don't care. Little lift, biggest tire you can stuff for me.
I agree... those trucks up so high look stupid... BTW, it doesn't matter how high your truck is... the axel is still the lowest point!!!

Minnow, I have a 2" leveling kit with 35" toyo MT's and I just barely clear and in some hard turns and a bump I still rub... Now I am running those 35's on stock 17" rims... I can not comment on what say a 20"x10" rim would do for clearance on a similar tire, but I can promise you there is now way I could put 37's on my truck and do anything but drive straight...

With that said, KORE is advertising a 3" lift that will allow for 37's... I bet it would be about as close as the 35's are on my 2" leveling lift...

Yes, I belong to another site (4wd site), and the guys over there running teh Kore 3" are running 37's. OK, so with the leveling kit and 35's you rub? I was thinking that the 37's would be tight, but would work with the levelin and some trimming. Thanks for the heads up!

OK, cool. I was just thinking when I made that post you were another guy that had jumped in on me about another MPG debate. Don't worry, the guy is stalking me here on the site, and everywhere I pop up, he is sure to follow, so you will get to meet him real soon and see what I am talking about. So, sorry if that came out wrong (my other post towards you)
