Fuel Injectors Bad? rpms don't come down

I have an 05 ram with 155k miles that has deveoped an issue with the rpm not coming down when the pedal is released. I noticed it on the highway initially with some slight hanging up when going down hill releasing pressure on the pedal. It got worse over a few months and I discovered that if I rev the engine in park or neutral- the rpms hang up badly. It sounds as if its trying to return to idle but seems as though fuel is entering the cylinders and it erraticly idles high sometime increasing. I have to shut the truck to correct it. Additional with the warm up feature through cruise control if left to idle high it takes off the same way increasing eraatically and needs to shut down to reset.
Took it to dealer after I changed the fca hoping I'd get off cheap for 100 bucks- but ng.
Dealer changed fuel pedal sensor- 500 buck still ng. They've been on phone with dodge for a few weeks hoping to avoid changing injectors. They've done fuel return tests and doges says change 6 injectors.
They're guessing it may be worth a try to do the pressure cleaning service, but I had that done a while ago for no good result. At 110k or so I had #3 injector replaced , but that time it was a real performance issue- hesitating- almost cutting out smoking etc. This time the truck has full power accelerates properly, no smoking or anything ecept this condition where it seems the fuel to the cylinders won't reduce when releasing the pedal.
I was considering trying to trade it in and get a used gas engine tuck, but maybe I'll hang on for another yr or 2 if this fixes it. I can't take another 4-5k repair. Does this sound like a fuel injector (s) issue? I have them shamed into possible giving me the injectos for discount maybe cost and only paying labor. If I can get out with a 4k repair it'll hurt but maybe it'll buy me 2 more years. I'd appreciate any input as to any agreement as to whether the injectors are the issue, and how often this costly repairs it hitting other owners. When I bought this thing, I expected to get 300k miles out of it.
Oh yeah, and now I'm getting a chime alarm and the preheater warning light goes on and off that curly thing.
Thanks in advance.

Yeap, sounds like you have an injector issue. Take care of it before you melt a piston. I would change all six. That's about the right mileage for the injectors to go south. Actually, you've gone a good bit farther than others. Get a price quote before you do anything. Injectors from Dodge are expensive. You can take all six out and send them to F1 and get them rebuilt for around $2300. Give Tim at TREdiesel a call.

Thank you guys. Im going to get them done and hold onto the truck for a few more years if it gets it back running as it should be. It's getting a little worse now.
I just hope the performance is back to where it should be.
Again- thanks for taking the time to give these clear responses based upon your experiences.

If you have basic hand tools and can afford the down-time, do the job yourself......It's a lot easier than you might think. Plus, you'll save yourself a ton of cash. When I pulled mine it took me about an hour from start to finish to get them ready to send out to F1......took my sweet time re-installing them and it took me an hour and a half.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I have the exact same problem that I just started noticing today, but have some more specific questions. RPM's hang around 1000 for 30 to 45 seconds before dropping in neutral, and I also noticed the cruise didn't seem to operate as it should under deceleration like going down a hill.

I bought my 03 with intentions of keeping it stock, but I've seen several posts from searching the forum today about F1 injectors. My main question is, if I do an aftermarket injector, are there performance injectors that still play well with a factory truck? I'm not against a programmer, but don't want to get into changing turbo's, etc. Also, I'm a 1stgen guy, so bare with me if these are questions a 3rd gen guy should know off the top of his head. The truck just ticked over 185 thousand miles.

Yes, F1 Flux 1. 50hp. You will want to stick to 50hp injectors.

Mine does this a couple times a year. I have an 03 6 speed I've just dealt with it, but I'm waiting for my flux 2's to arrive with new connecting tubes so maybe it'll resolve the hang

You're gonna love the 2's!!!! They drive my 62/65 charger SOOO much better than the stockers did. Just did a 500 mile round trip the other day and half the trip was into a 35 mph headwind and the other half was a mix of stop and go traffic (Ft. Worth, Texas at 5pm if that tells you anything ) and smooth sailing, and when I got back to the house I had just under a 1/4 tank of fuel left.......I'd say for 100hp sticks, they still get pretty good mileage!!!!
