Fuel Indication Problem

Hi there,

I recently installed the FASS fuel system, I was going to use the draw straw but was told buy the store who sold the unit I would have to go fill up with 1/4 tank indicating. If I took the stock unit out of the tank and cut the lines installed a 3/8 hose onto the suction fitting and ran it into the bowl in the tank I was told it would run the truck like stock.
Well it's happened a couple times and the truck goes dead at 1/4 tank on a very small downhill grade. I filled up my truck on the way home and it took 102 litres of fuel. According to the manufactures book my 2003 short box tank holds 34 gallons. I have never put that much into the tank before and have driven around with the low fuel light on forever. I suspected the gauge wasn't working correctly but it seems to be given the numbers.
My question is does any on knows whats happen? Why can't I get the last little bit out of the tank before the engine is starving of fuel. IT'sdriving me crazy.
