Has any one had any experince with Hastings fuel filters? Local repair shop wants to sell them to me over the counter for 11$. Sounds like a deal to me. Anyone know if they have atleast a 7 micron rating?

Was just on the Baldwin website at they say the pf7977 meets cummins new requirements for the 02 to 06 engine. I found it in a engineer bulletin dated march 6 2006. Not sure what the new specs are.

I was curious so I emailed hasitings... looks like it is the same filter as the Baldwin PF7977... infact the email came back to me from a Baldwin/Hastings rep (the same one I email with at Baldwin)....

The absolute micron rating on the FF1260 is 5 and the capacity is 25.5 grams.

Here is another question, when installing it I assume the hole in the base of the filter goes down, if any one could correct me if I am wrong that would be great!

Yep, goes down. The non-hole side of the filter snaps into the canister lid. Once you take everything apart you'll see how it goes back together.

That may be so with an oil bypass but a dirty fuel filter restricts flow and robs power.
