FS 2500 Oil Filters?
FS 2500 Oil Filters?
Is anyone out there using an FS 2500 Oil Filter kit in there trucks?
I've got one in my truck installed by the previous owner and was just wondering if anyone out there liked them or hated them?
As black as the oil was that came out on the first oil change yesterday I have my doubts that it works as good as they claim
If you wanna see the video that makes me question my oil color go to
http://www.fs2500.com
Thanks

First off the 04.5 and newer trucks do have much blacker oil.
Now after watching the video I have a few comments.
1) the FS2500 probably does work real well at removing soot.
2) The Fleetguard must have been set up with the dark sooty liquid(ie VERY DIRTY) because otherwise the small amount that was used for the video would have been sucked dry into the filter!!!
3) The other filter was set up with the clean liquid because it would also have sucked the demo liquid container dry. I also noticed the clean liquid started coming out very quickly.
I guess the only way to know for sure it to start fresh on this oil change and monitor it for your self. And post back here with the results

the 2500 is a good filter, and a bypass filter on your truck is a must. the 04.5 up to the 6.7's uses a in cylinder egr that causes the oil to turn black in 30 minutes. use a lf16035 filter for the main filter and just drain the oil out of the 2500 filter at oil change, do not replace the filter until it no longer flows oil just feel the filter after a run if it is warm it is OK, the dirtier the filter gets the better it works, change the oil and lf16035 every 10,000 miles and the truck will go beyond 1,000,000 miles easy with out using oil. we do not have many 2500's on our trucks or equipment because they are over priced and we can make our own kits using stock filters for our big toys, and yes we have 5.9's with 1,000,000+
The oil will still turn black. I have had one on my truck for about 50K miles. I run synthetic valvoline and my oil samples are still coming back good after 30k miles. I change my oil every 30K just becuase it has been about a 1.5 yrs w/o changing it. The only real way to tell how much soot is in the oil is to do the oil samples, they will tell you when the oil is no longer good for service.

on the 04.5 your oil will still be black as night in 5 mins. I have the FS2500 and its a OK filter. Looking back i would go with the AMSOIL bypass instead. I do agree in having the bypass filter on these trucks.

but I believe they also look at the oil's TBN to decide when the oil has reached it's life span.
