Front Suspension Compression Issue!!!
I've only had it happen about 5 times over the past year.....when the front suspension compresses to a certain extent (nothing extreme at all) I feel and hear a loud BANG mostly under my driverside floorboard. I contributed it to possibly something to do with the new control arms I installed. I haven't pulled them out yet but they are very tight.....no slop in the movement dep't.
Also, I have no signs of any metal to metal contact anywhere. I installed 2" coil spacers, longer shocks, 1/2" longer tubular control arms, longer swaybar endlinks, adjustable trackbar, and new steering arms not too far apart from each other but I seem to recall the noise after the control arm install for some reason. I also had new joints and slip shaft put on the front drive shaft and was thinking that possibly I had put way too much grease in the slip yoke and when the shaft went to compress there was no place for the grease to go thus acting like a stop and causing the bang......but I don't really think that's my issue.
I'm pulling the shaft this morning and will drive around until I can try to duplicate the noise over certain dips in the road. Last week I was hauling a tractor on a 40' GN and idling in 1st gear I went over a smallish hill and the driver front tire fell off in a pretty decent size hole and I honestly thought I busted the t-case in half because the bang was so harsh......like someone smacked the underside of my floorboard with a sledgehammer!!
Has anyone experience anything like this before?? Sorry for being long-winded, just trying to get all the info in.

Found it!!!!! I need longer bump stops on the front end. The suspension travel is allowing the frame side trackbar bracket to make contact with the lower coil pocket........gouged the crap out of it too......looked and looked and finally happened to notice the gouge....about 3/16" deep into the coil pocket.

Any suggestions on new extended bump stops?

Anything Auto carries Daystar which are good. Mostly universal but many different styles.

And FatBobs is a place I used in the past for other items but they carry Dodge specific stops.

Glad you found the problem!

I would have never thought the suspension would compress that far. Could adjusting the trackbar length solve the problem?
I'll give your choices a try and see what's appealing. Thanks Crawler.

this ^
mine did the same thing the alignment shop had the adjustable trac bar adjusted too far out. like darned near 1.5” out of adjustment
blew my mine that a stock truck on pavement would make that kind of contact but with an out of adjustment pan hard it can really push things over and into each others that you wouldn’t think possible

Wouldn't that be a sight to behold......my 8k lb truck flying through the air!!!!!
No, mostly it would make contact at highway speeds going over dips in the road. The last time it happened (about 3 weeks ago ) I was pulling the aforementioned goonseneck through a pasture trail and came to very slight hump in the road......not knowing there was a crazy hole just on the other side of it. When I say there was a BANG when the suspension compressed.....THERE WAS A BANG!!!!!! I actually thought something had broken off the driveline.
Pulled the bar last Friday and measured it at 49.5"....called Thuren and he says "too long, 49 1/8" is about all you can do." Re-adjusted it to 49 1/8" and now I have a pull to the left when I let go of the wheel. Gotta get an alignment now.
