Front end noise

So there is a nasty noise coming from my dad's front end every time he hits a bump. The bearings are all good, so I am thinking it has something to do with his coil springs/shock absorbers. Just looking for any common problems before we tear into it

Thanks!

sway bar end links are a common problem on these trucks. mine does the same thing, have to change them.

I could hear and feel a knock while traveling over uneven pavement at slow speeds. I traced it to loose sector shaft bearings. I replaced the steering box. That fixed the problem for about 4 weeks, and has started to come back. The new steering box came with a year warranty, so I will have to see if they will replace it.
Just crawl under the front of the truck and hit the pitman arm with the heel of your hand, you will hear and feel the slack.
I have an 06, and I crawled under a buddies 04 and found the same problem.

schamran,

What truck does your dad have? I have the front sway bar link bushings changed under the extended warranty 7/100,000 this week and it is finally quiet. It sounded like a monkey was under the truck with a ball peen hammer. They may look good from the outside but knock on the link. Don't quote me but I believe there is a way to check it by loosening the inner nut, but do some research first. If the have some miles on them it is cheap enough to replace with a good MOOG set-up.

I was told it was the lower shock mount bolts I have replaced the tie rods trac bar and it never went away it all started after the leveling kit
I also have a snaping kinda clunk at full turn that I would believe is the stearing sounds like the steering box tring to rip off the frame so yeah I'm also wondering!

I have recently noticed a loud CLUNK at slow speed turns when my steering is at full lock. In the past 6 months I have had the 2008 upgraded steering linkage installed, new ball joints, new adjustable track bar, new brake pads, and new steering stabilizer. The noise started after the new parts were installed. The noise sounds as though something is loose and the weight shifts when steering is at full lock making the big "clunk" noise. I'll be under the truck this weekend replacing my clutch. If anyone has any ideas of what to check I am all ears.
