Windshield Leak Woes. Gasket recommend?

I found some old threads on this issue. Wonder about some more recent thoughts and experiences.

Looking at having my windshield done cause it leaks and my floor is always wet and I live in a rainforest.
I've talked to 2 shops that said they won't guarantee that it won't leak again cause this style of gasket is not the greatest...or maybe they've just never dealt with one. One guy told me you're not supposed to even use sealant with these which im pretty suspect of.

Some seem to think its best to re-use the old gasket, and that the new gaskets you can order don't fit well. Apparently new glass is also thinner..

Anyone had experience with the Steele Rubber products gasket? I've read some good reviews on them.

Thanks for any input, would really love to have dry carpets for once!!

The new glasses IS thinner, so the gaskets usually do not seal well.

Are you absolutely sure it is the windshield? I have had them leak from cracks in the cowling on the pass side and also leak into the cab on the drivers side floor vent

Cowl cracks are VERY common on these trucks. They often cause wet floors. I would say more than 9 out of 10 trucks I work on has cowl cracks on both sides.

Last time I had to swap out a cracked windshield on my own truck. I replaced it with a 30+ year old OEM windshield which was installed in the original 1991 OEM windshield gasket.

Right on,

Thanks for the replys.

Pretty certain my cowling is ok. I had a guy repair and repaint all around the windshield as well as the drip rail last time the windshield was out only a year ago... when I run the hose it's pretty obvious its mainly leaking from the seal behind the windshield higher up on the corners. Maybe ill post a photo...

Maybe I'll goop some of that 3M in there and hope for the best.

On another note, my extended cab side windows leak as well and haven't found replacement seals for those anywhere..

Cheers
