Donut,

Thanks for the pix and explanation. I went to Napa today and got the adapter. Cool.

Glad I could help. I makes me feel better (and improves my image in my wife's eyes) to help others with the same problem I had.

Great pics

Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures for the rest of us. I have the same problems at the dealership..kids doing the oil change..I have to watch them to make sure they do everything properly and I didn't even know about the nipple in question until I read this post. Thanks again.

I have an 04.5 and my book says that this joint is permately greased, and It does not have the fitting in Donuts picture, I guess they just put in what they want in these trucks, hopefully I won't have a problem, it may have been a fix for 05 and later.

Just showed the pic of the adaptor to my father and he said it looks like same grease fitting on his old chainsaws. He said that all his old stihl saws had to be greased with something like that. I'm going to try it hopefully this weekend.

Getting oilchange at dealer this morning and walked back into the shop and asked the guy working on my truck if he greased it and he had no idea what I was talking about. Well I showed him the sticker under the hood and he looked for it and couldn't find it. He even told me they didn't even have a grease gun with a needle on it at the shop....but he told me it would be ok because they have never greased any other ones either. I guess I'll just have to take matters into my own hands and grease it myself.

Exclamation

I have been to 3 different Dodge dealers, and NOT ONE of them knew about lubing the front driveshaft or even where it (the lube point) was located! Not exactly confidence inspiring! And then they wonder why I do my own maintenance!?!?!

I looked under the hood for that sticker and could not find one.
I am concerned now that perhaps mine has NEVER been lubed.

I have an 06 and can not find it! I have looked and looked and I can't find it. When we put a lift on my buddies 05, it took me abut 2 seconds to find his. My truck has some under coating on the driveshaft so I am going to try again.

I looked in my owners manual. It says they are factory lubed and sealed.
