Loud is a relative term. I can notice it when it turn the key, but once the Cummins fires up and blows out through the MBRP I can't hear it anymore. I don't understand why the noise is such an issue? Most of these guys have stacks, mud tires, intakes, ect.. and yet they act like being able to hear the fuel pump is giving them a headache.

I installed an fass about a month ago. Yes it is loud. And yes more importantly it does work. I can hear that pump humming with the engine running. It doesnt bother me, it lets me know when the humming stops i do to. It was worth the money, i cant figure out why they do away with the factory fuel pump though. When i get my rail pressure gauge im going to do some testing and figure out if it hurts to run them together.

Is the lift pump a problem on all CTD's? or certain years? Does an aftermarket one provide any performance advantage? Any difference between fass and warlboro?

the lift pumps are a huge problem on the 98.5-02 trucks. the carter lift pump is junk on those. most guys put on an aftermarket fuel system because they run out of fuel pressure. Ive ran both the fass pump and the walbro. the fass pump was very loud on my 05, it made the bed rattle it was so loud but other guys say it depends on how you mount it. it was installed by a dealer? I have the walbro and like it. it is very quiet and seems to hold fuel pressure just as good as the fass pump did. if you get a fass get the system with the filters. its worth the extra cash. the walbro is a small pump thats a cylinder shape but the same idea with both of them. both of them help support mods well. hope any of this helps you out

I have the fass and it is noisy, compared to the stock lift pump. But if the fass quits it has a bypass and engine will run without a pump at all, and yes I have done it. In my opinion the fass could be refined motor wise to rev less and still push the same amount of fuel. You might look into the air dog I have read it is quieter and a bit more refined. I do not mind the noise when it is a quiet hum, but out of the blue it will become a bothersome higher pitched squell or sound like it just got an extra 10 volts to it for awile, what I am trying to say it is not consistent in sound, but in performance the gauge is steady. There is absolutely no gain in mpg that is hog wash. The filters need guards to keep debris from beating them to ugly. I think the design is good overall and so far ahead of the stock setup it is not even funny, but a few tweaks here and there and would be stellar no doubt.

Walbro & Auxillary Fuel Tank Install.

My problem is that I have an in-bed, Dually Depot 115 gal. fuel tank that is hooked up, directly, to the engines fuel pump. There is a 6-way electric valve that directs fuel from the main tank or the aux. tank & back.

I believe that the Walbro has a check valve that re-directs excess fuel back to the fuel fill hose. My understanding is that the Fass does not have that check valve.

The problem with the Walbro (Glacier Diesel Prod.) system is that the check valve ONLY re-directs the excess fuel to the main tank. When running on the aux. tank, the excess fuel would still return to the main tank, causing it to overfill.

Anyone have any ideas how to re-direct the excess fuel to the aux. tank when using fuel from that tank?

Could I just "tap into" the stock return fuel line or is there too much pressure & flow to do that successfully?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
