Fan Clutch Source?

I need to replace my fan clutch and can't seem to locate the part. Autozone has a listing but it's the wrong part. Is this available from a parts store or do I need to sell a kidney before heading to the dealership?

I haven't seen an aftermarket one yet and sadly I can tell you that it cost me $350 for the clutch and $150 labor at the dealer(I went in for an AC problem).

So I just went by the dealer...$406 for just the part. For that kind of money I might as well get an electric kit.

The one in Diesel Power was (I Think) this Flex A Lite kit http://store.summitracing.com/partde...w=1&N=700+150+

What I don't understand is that the application is for an '03 to '08 Dodge Diesel but then it says that it can't be used on trucks that have electronically controlled fan clutches. Was the electronically controlled clutch some type of option? I was under the impression that all of the '03 and up trucks had this same type of fan clutch

Okay sorry man it was in Diesel World Mag. April 08 vol.3 #4. Any way the comp is "Derale Cooling Products" #800-421-6288 or 323-266-3850. No web site listed in the mag. It states it has a full line of Fan Clutches, hope it helps..

Thanks for the info. I'll have to call them because the part number for Dodge listed on their website differs from what Summit sells on their website. The price is definately better than the dealership. Thanks

I called their tech support on Friday AM and haven't heard back. I wasn't too impressed when they couldn't even tell me which part I needed or give me a picture so that I could tell them if it was correct or not. They just kept asking me what their website said. They list the same part for a '00-'05 and I don't think that they're the same. They couldn't even tell me if it was electronically controlled or not. Using the part number that Derale lists and trying to buy from Summit doesn't work. Summit lists that part number for a Ford Econoline and no part for my truck. Hopefully I'll have a better answer today.

You are better off going to the dealer with your vin number and get the correct part # first. On mine there were two clutches available, one cost about $350 the other $560 both electronic contolled. of course mine was the latter. Then you can cross reference the correct one. At the time when I did mine no one except the dealer carried them.

I went to the dealer and I also removed my fan clutch so that I could get the correct part. I even took pictures so that I would be sure I had the right one. They told me $406 using my VIN number.

I just called Derale back and they told me that they didn't have a clutch that was electronically controlled. If it's between $406 for the dealer part and $550 for the electric kit I'll probably go electric. The truck doesn't run hot but the A/C at idle sure isn't comfortable. I'm going to continue to look for a part on Ebay and see what I can find.

That's the problem I ran into also. Everyone has fan clutches, but no one had the electronic fan clutch, dealer only.. If you go electric fans let us know how it works for you.
