Fan Clutch
My fan clutch is engaging before the engine reaches normal operating temperature and it happens on an intermittent basis.
Anyone else have this?
How do the fan clutches on this engine work?
Thanks,

It's possible the fluid has settled inside the fan clutch and is causing lockup even when the temp doesn't warrant it.
Does it run when you're at operating temp?

Thanks for the replies. I could hear the fan running yesterday right after I started the engine and had turned on the A/C, but well before the engine had reached normal operating temp. Since I'm about to turn 36,000 miles, I was concerned if it was operating properly or not, and if not, I'd take it in before my warranty expired.
Like everything else on these trucks today, things are more complicated than the old days. Used to, the only time the fan would engage was to bring the coolant temperature down if it exceeded a preset temperature.
