Extending fuel drain?
Extending fuel drain?
Has anyone extended the fuel line for draining the filter.
I'm sick of fuel running all over or working to get a bottle to fit up above the axle.
I was thinking about getting more hose, and a two sided barb and extend the hose down along the frame to make it easy to drain or even on the road to check your fuel.
Maybe a hose going up under the front bumper and letting you hold a bottle there to catch it.
What size of hose is on the drain now and how thick. What barb would you use?
Anyone do anything like this and have the info? Just want to make it easy after all the years of screwing with it.....

I took an old piece of garden hose and cut it to the desired length and it slipped right over top of the clear plastic hose coming out of the canister...it works great and has yet to come off...(been there for 3 years)
I went to Lowe's and bought some clear plastic tubing, and a plastic nipple - so it extends the existing drain tube. Get a couple of the plastic nipples of different sizes and see which one fits - then you know the size of tubing (and can return the unused nipples). I only install mine when I'm changing the fuel filter but it'd be easy to route the tubing where you want and use some cable ties to secure it in position. This is a low cost addition. The clear tubing is nice to see if the fuel is still flowing, and also whether there is water or dirty fuel, etc.
