Smoke from under hood?

So last night I noticed something that has me a bit worried.

We got home after dark and while unloading the truck I noticed the headlight beams illuminating what looked like light smoke in front of the truck. At first I thought it was dust from our gravel driveway but the phenomenon continued after I moved the truck into the garage.

So the 'smoke' or mist or steam or whatever it is has no strong odour and is faint enough that I can't pick it out in the daytime, nor can I locate it's source, even using a flashlight at night. It does appear to be drifting up from somewhere below or behind the headlights, but could be from just about anywhere under the hood.

Anyone have any ideas? The truck is running great and has no other issues. I just had an oil change done and an oil sample is on the way to Blackstone as we speak.

I believe Rich is spot on, I think the circumstances were perfect for you to see the Monster breathe

Keep an eye on the fluids and don't sweat it too much.

Ok, thanks guys. Where can I find the oil breather tube? Is the output end visible?

The breather tube is the 1" hard rubber / plastic tube that runs from just under the valve cover on cylinder number 5? It runs down the driver side of the engine down towards the tranny.

Ok, just got my analysis back from Blackstone and everything looks great as usual. No fuel in the oil at all, so I suppose I'm safe for now!

You mentioned that you had just had an oil change. Any chance some oil could have been spilled on the manifold?

The oil change happened the day after I noticed the smoke, so I don't think that was it.
