Extended Warranty
Hello all,
My '03 2500 CTD is coming up on its 36000 mile mark and I am considering the Chrysler extended warranty.
My question to you guys... is it worth it? I had a '99 Ram 1500 and the tranny fell out of it at 60000 miles... major bummer and it has me a little scared.
I tow heavy loads on the weekends (10,000 lbs boat) and drive the truck on long trips as well as inner city day to day. I have noticed some little picky things... like a rattle in the dash... that I bet would cost an arm and a leg to fix if it wasnt under warranty, but my real concern is big-ticket items like the AC, cooling, trans, turbo, etc.
Any feedback you guys can muster would be great.
Thanks!

Well things like a rattle in the dash most likely NOT copvered.Mainly hard failure items.Window motors, trans,u'joints, some high tech policys cover radios and speakers but not many. Its a INSURANCE policy and like some/most insurance it may never be used. But then again it might!

Well service contracts DO cover most of the ac system, powersteering, window motors, blower motors, trans, diffs, clutch hyds etc to 100k.The policys also cover rental if a failure is covered. The service contracts are also highly nego on the purchase price.LOTS of profit built into them. They operate just like a insurance policy. Some pay off some don't.

Extended warranty
McKnight - Hey I just put up a post about my experience with the extended warranty. (Out with the old & in with the new) I got the 100k mile Premier plan, $100.00 deductible, which has paid itself off on extended warranty repairs. I use the truck for business, putting approx. about 120k towing miles on per year. This last episode cost me about $500.00 in expenses when the lift pump failed and let me down approx. 400 miles from home. Plan pays up to $1,000.00 per incident for all expenses - hotel, food, taxis etc.
IMOP - if you do alot of travelling it would be well worth buying.

Which company?
I'm looking at the '06's about the end of the year, and am a little concernened about rumors that the 7/70 is going away. Also just had to have the front end of the wife's dakota rebuilt at 46k.
Thanks!
Tony

The only decent SERVICE CONTRACT company I liked and I deldt with MANY was FACTORY of ANYBODYS.They have a vested interest.Their products, their customer, YOU.The rest are just a hit and run and harder to deal with.
