exhaust component
you should not remove it due to legalities involved, your dealer will immediately void your warranty. And if you do, please do not draw too much attention to it on this site.
on the other hand, if you add just a high flow muffler, you will notice: better sound, faster spooling of the turbo, and lower EGT's.

I have also heard from others on this and other boards that due to the design of the cat it poses no restriction to the 2004.5-05 exaust system. It is basically a straight thru system and only kinda acts like a small muffler. If you remove you could be subject to warranty loss and other fines/problems from other legal areas.
Dhackett,
It is a cat for sure, we have a bolt on perfromance replacement muffler that is made from 409 stainless that we sell a lot of to the 2004.5+ Dodges, easy install and sounds great too. We also sell the cat test pipes, seems we sell a customer a bolt on muffler and in a few days they order the test pipe, lots of dead cats out there somewhere. If you install the test pipe with band clamps it is easy to reinstall the cat with two clamps etc.
