That's a good reference on the pain in the butt red tab connectors. Having struggled with the rokkteck I can relate. When I first heard about the wire I checked my rig and I'll be damned If everything came from the factory with loom on the affected wires? Build date March/03

I'm not surprized to see things like this. I guess the bean counters figure it's cheaper to fix the ones that fail while under warranty. The others we can charge a shop rate to trouble shoot & make their $$ back & then some.

Got a new International with a cummins 4yrs ago. The first thing I did was spend an afternoon Putting wire loom over wires that could give me trouble & bigger hoses over water lines that could rub holes in them.

Not exactly what I was calling them when I installed the TST Camshaft and Crankshaft connectors.

Do I assume that prior to 04, all trucks had the wire loom? Just found this post, checked under my truck, and found every wire covered with tape and loom just like John found. My truck is an 03. Pretty sad to see newer trucks have less build quality. Maybe it's a matter of what day of the week a truck came off the production line!

Checked and yes, the wire was rubbing against the aluminum tube leading to the compressor. Didnt' have to remove the harness, just took 6 or 8 inches of 1/4 looma and slipped it over.
Problem averted....thanks everyone.

So the obvious question here is what years did this affect, is it a second generation problem to. Is it just Auto tranny guys or the manuals to.

After reading back through the post, everybody that said they had the problem owned a 04.5 or a 05. I forgot to check what trani's they had. I'll leave that up to you.

right on!!

have 04.5 2500 QC SB 15000 miles. Looked and sure enough saw the ac line was shiny where it was rubbing. re routed wire behind and not on top as it was. Thank you for the tip, probably saved me a headache down the road. Looks to me like a factory problem, not intentional but a problem none the less.

Just checked mine, (early '04) and it already had the loom on it. Hopefully it will be one less thing to worry about...
