Engine rumble at startup
Hey guys...i know this subject has been covered before, but i searched alot and couldnt quite find a scenario just like mine.
When i start my truck in the morning...i let it sit and warm...then as i take off and come to the first stop sign (about 100' away) the engine will stutter and act like its gonna die, and then overcompensate and rev up above normal idle. after that little burp it dosent do it again all day. this morning while it was warming up it starting going into this routine and repeated about 4-5 times then resummed its normal idle. this all started occuring after i took my truck to the dealer and they replaced my lift pump with the in tank unit.
im very reluctant to take it back to them as i am convinced they know nothing about diesel trucks. sorry about this super long post. what do you guys think? any similar experiences?
thanks

When you say you let it warm, how long are you talking about. I have a feeling you are idling way too much and are carboned up. If I am guessing correctly, quit the warm up and just give it enough time to get oil pressure up and circulated. Drive it gently until up to operating temp.
Why did the truck go to the dealer? What problems were you seeing to send it there and what was the end result?

I just read your title "Engine Rumble at Startup" and all I could think of was for you to disconnect your batteries - that would eleminate both problems, 1) Engine Rumble & 2) Startup.
Sorry, couldn't help it....
