I just bought my new 06 diesel. I had an 02 before that. I am also a diesel mechanic by trade. Ok to make a long story short what is the weird noise that I am hearing from my new engine??? It sounds more prominant on the driver side. I really hear it if I accelerate very slowly and at low loads. It is kinda like a tick but then again it is not. I am not sure if it is just characteristic of the new cummins. I am used to my old cummins. It seems to run fine no check eng lights or anything. It just turned over 1000 miles today. Any info will help. Thanks in advance.

 

I'd say it's normal. The new diesels are so quiet that you hear more of the noises associated with diesels that you couldn't hear in the louder engines...

 

mine does it...i thought the same thing when i first got it..heard it on the drivers side but mostly at idle...went and listened to others and they all did the same thing....Jason

 

Thanks for the input guys. I really figured it was nothing but I just wanted to make sure. I don't exactly like the idea of taking it to the dealer and leaving it so they can listen to it.
