EGT range ?

I have my probe installed pre-turbo and on rear side of manifold, to catch temp from rear cylinders. On good grades I hit 1300 deg easily, and can keep it there whether I have an empty flatbed or a mid size load (10k).

So far there hasn't been any problem, once I disconnected the Quad and had same EGT stock, but I would like to see other opinions.

I don't hit those temps unloaded (more in the 1100 deg range) but loaded with my 12K toy hauler, on a steep grade I'll hit 1300 easily. That's running my Xzillaraider on setting 2. Stock is around 1200 in same conditions. My probe is between cyl 3 and 4 pre-turbo. Are you still running the stock muffler?

Yes, it is still the stock muffler only (no resonator) but...... pipe broke off before it on my way back to MN from NY state... I tell you what that was a LOUD 1200 miles trip !!!

EGT were same with it together or with it broken off.

I am sure I'm ok, I am just checking others just in case, thank you.

PS...and BTW I have a new exhaust coming.

I'm thinking 1300 is a little high with an empty truck, but it can be influenced by speed and throttle input too. Are you cruising up a long steep hill at 70-80mph and trying to maintain that speed? With an empty truck I can barely break 1100, no matter how hard I stand on it. With a loaded truck (around 19K gvw) I can hold 1300 all the way up a decent hill (60mph) and fighting headwinds I've seen 1450 for a few seconds before I let off the pedal and drop to 5th.

Has your truck always read that temp? Air filter clean and dry?

The rear cylinders stay hotter than the front ones, so good job mounting it. I can see 1300 at wot or pulling a load, these trucks are known to run high egts even stock, I think you're fine.

While personally I agree with you, many won't. I've seen ppl post seeing 1500-1700* on their trucks. I would not pass 1400*.

It's different for 03-04's and 04.5+. The newer trucks run hotter from the factory.
