E-Rated Tires
Tires
Hello everyone i just got my 2004 dodge, diesel, dully and i need to put tires on it. i have been looking for a couple of days but havent found the rite one yet. i like the toyo brand tires, A/T, but want to make the rite decison the first time around. i currently run 265 70 17 bridgestones. I would like the tire to be taller if possible.
I had the terra grapplers installed Friday 285 70 17 E on my 04.5. No rubbing and they look and ride great. The stock BFG rugged trails 265's looked puny in comparison. They did last 60,000 miles though the traction on those was sub par. The dealer will recalibrate my speedo for around $50

I suggest the Toyo 285/75/17 E. Much stiffer than the 285/70 E. A little taller than the 265s and E rated. I love mine.

When I bought my 04.5 truck, I promise myself I would not replace the BFG 265 before they wear out. well last week I got tired of looking at those ugly chrome wheels, the BFG still had more than half thread left at 60,000 miles, went an bought a set of chrome H2 wheels and put on Toyo AT 285/75/17 on the truck, the whole set up looks great, I like the height of the 285 being almost 34 in. tall, they are 10 ply E rated tire. even better I got Les Schwab to give me 300.00 on trade in for the BFG tires. Does anyone know the tire rolling distance for these tire to do the pinion factor?
I did use a router on the wheels with a flush bit to open up the centers , work like a champ.
The Toyo AT do come with a 50,000 mile warranty now from Les Schwab.

,oh well at least I can still use the stock spare.
I took the 275x17" BFG "C" rated tires off tonight, they are calling for snow and I have 68K on them so I am due. they still have a little tread on them. As far as towing we towed the boat several times and we have a 410 case that I towed, 25' bumper pull camper and never had any problems with the BFG's. We will see how the new Michelins do.
I read four pages and never saw someone mention what I have... BFG 305/65/17
These are 10 ply E rated, ride great, excellent in snow and mud, and I load the truck really heavy at times.
Right now I am running 35 psi empty in the rear and 70 psi when loaded. I have 15,000 miles on them.

I just put BFG All terrain T/A on some M/T classic lock wheels. tires are E-rated 305/65 17 on 17X9 with no rubbing at all. Only got 2500 miles on them so far so it's still too early for me to give ya' some mileage stuff. I will post some later when I get some more miles on them. just uploaded the images so look for them in a few days.

I second the Toyo 285/75R17's. I have about 5K on them, and they are wearing awesome, they are very quiet. They also worked really well when I was home last month in mud and snow. They have just enough extra height to help with my mileage and when they are aired up to 80psi they seem to be about the same width (approx) than the stock BFG's. Plus they are a load range E tire with a 3970lb load range. Scotty
285-75-17 M-55?
I loved the M-55's on my '99. A little noise between 45-60mph,but no biggee. Extremely rugged tire. I just wish Toyo would consider a 285-75-17. A 34" M-55 would be ideal.
