got down to 1/4 tank of mostly ATF. just dumped 10 gal ATC directly into tank. this was pumped directly from a automatic transmission flush machine. so all ATF has already been filtered.

running 90%+ ATF with no problems...

The truck sat all last week, I was in my service truck. I don't like the way the truck smokes on cold start ups with all that oil in the tank. It looks like it would if the valve seals were leaking. So I topped off the tank with diesel and so far I am on the way to some really good fuel milage. I may go back to a heavy mix, cold start up was the only time I noticed any blue smoke.

almost getting too heavy... dumped 5 gal ATF, 5 gal WMO into remaining 10 gal of 95% ATF in tank.

runs fine with this thicker mixture, but lightly smokes at idle.
97 12v really likes 100% ATF... no smoke at all except for a puff at startup.

took a 100 mile road trip this afternoon with no problems with this thicker mixture. cruised at 70-75 just like normal.

ive been watching this thread, and yesterday i put 1 1/2 qt of ATF and about a qt or two of virgin 10w30 to an almost empty tank, fuel light was on. no problems what so ever. i know it wasnt much, but im kinda weary to go dumping gallons on gallons in there just yet.

unless you have a 12v.... I'd be real wary of dumping gallons too.

in fact this thread is one of the few places I've seen feedback for CR folks using anything but straight diesel.

note I've got a spare set of injectors and are prepared to replace P7100 and lift pump.

12v has a reputation for running on just about any oils. long before this $4 gal mess.

OK... finally reached too heavy stage... 12v started not wanting to run at low speed cold. started up fine, but didn't want to idle smoothly.

once motor reached normal speeds, ran fine. you could tell motor didn't like the mixture. which was 100% waste oil consisting of 65% ATF / 35% waste motor oil.

12 valve ran fine on 100% AFT. throwing in much heavier motor oil started motor lightly smoking at lower rpms.

had 15 gal in tank of above mixture. put 5 gal of diesel to thin out. motor smoothed right out within minutes.

French fry particles are less damaging to the injectors and pumps than worn engine particles...and they smell better too

I think if the used oil is filltered to the right level(?) it`s a great idea. As long as you don`t go crazy with the amount per tank. What could a small amount hurt, like 5%-15% ?

I've run 5% used filtered oil in my 05,it ran fine, and it was a little quieter , even my wife ask me what I did to the truck it sounds different.

Seems like hell froze over. Would you consider it now?

All our trucks at work got dipped for dyed fuel today.
I'm wondering what would have happened if I had ATF in my tank when thay pulled the sample?

Does anyone have any experience using mineral oil? I have access to a limited supply of mineral oil and years ago we used to put any excess in the delivery driver's tanks but I don't know of anyone using mineral oil in a late model engine.

Interesting thread, the ones doing it in a 3rd gen seem to be having no trouble at all.
