Drivetrain Warranty

I have a bad left axleshaft U joint. My truck is still under the drivetrain warranty. As per my signature, I have 33"x12.50x17 tires on rims that have 2 inches laess backspacing. I don.t see how this puts more stress on the u joint, ball joints maybe but not u joints. Anyone think the dealer will deny the warranty? I mean these are sopposed to be tough trucks and everyone puts bigger tires on them.
Thanks

It basically depends on how your dealership goes with it.

If you still have your stock wheels, put them on. You are giving them a reason to deny this under warranty coverage.

I personally agree with you that aftermarket wheels shouldn't cause excessive u-joint wear on 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, but the dealer may not agree.

i would look into that. Not much is covered under 7/70. I had steering box and pump go at 38k not covered under warranty. Drivetrain is only a few items in dc eyes. Good luck

I know for a fact that all of the u joints are covered under the power train warranty. My question was if they will try to weasle out of it 'cause of oversize tires. Guess that I'll find out tomorrow.

The 7/70 DRIVETRAIN warranty covers everything aft of the flywheel and fwd the rear end cover. Lifts and bht's (big honkin tire's ) might help void all or part of it, depending on the dealer.

Thumbs up Had all three U joints replaced under warranty

Have 65k on mine - had a real bad shutter when braking - took it to dealer, they replaced all 3 for $100 deductible under 7/70.
When I call and described the problem, the first thing the service mgr asked was how many miles I had on it. He diagnosed the problem over the phone. Me thinks this may be a common thing.

Oh yeah, forgot to add that I am going to buy replacements that I can grease and have on hand so I can replace myself next time.

Well, well, well Good News for a change! Not only did they do it under warranty with no problems, they did both sides! I could only tell that one side was bad but they did the right thing and changed both. Oh happy Day!
