That on the left is a 1/2 ton lowering shackle the one you need to lower a 2500 or 3500 would need to be longer not shorter ,thats why yours increased in height.

TOMTOM, Where do you get your information from? If I installed longer shackles, it would raise my truck. I have the invoice here and it reads; 3 inch wide leaf, Diesel, Leaf Hang under shackles. Maybe you should call AIM Industries and straighten them out.

Thanks to my Friend TOMTOM, The shackles are for sale again, but they won't fit a 1/2 ton.

Call me a nut but I had to do it. I pulled the air bags off the rear of my truck, just a couple of U-clamps, and yes the short shackles lowered the rear of my truck 2 inches. The only problem is when I hocked up my 5er, I need the air bags for the extra pin weight, so they are available if anyone to make me a offer.

on the 04.5 the shackles are on top of the leaf. I think on the 06+ the shackles are on the bottom of the leaf.

I towed my 66 skylark yesterday and the truck did squat a bit. I hear the timbrens system doesnt use an airbag, and it might work with lowered trucks. Anyone know about it?

Yes, the shackles are on top of the leaf springs, between the leaf spring and the frame, the axle is bolted to the leaf spring, so when you shorten the distance between the leaf spring and the frame (short shackles) it pulls the axle closer to the frame, lowering rear of truck. I have no idea what TOMTOM was talking about.

I have air bags between axle and frame (I believe timbrens are in the same place) The air bags have no give and hold the same distance between axle and frame with no air in them (I though they would compress with no air) so when I pull rear of leaf spring closer to frame (short shackles) The rear half of leaf spring bends up pushing down at bend point of leaf spring at axle under air bag, pushing rear of truck higher, not lower. I don't really understand it but thats what happening.

Anyway, they do work without air bags, if anyone wants to make a offer, send a PM.
