Detonation noise, need possible causes

Like the title says, My truck recently started makeing what I can only describe as a detonation noise, just like you would have in an old high compression gas engine with too much timing. I only does is when accelerating a little bit, or under hard acceleration, but you can feel it when it happens, not just hear it. There is a momentary loss of power, just for a fraction of a second.

I have the commander in my truck, but could see no drop in rail pressure, and my supply pressure stays about 6psi, except when to the floor accelerating, it will go down to 1psi, but it has been like that since new. I had thought it might be my XZT, but I used the bypass plug and unhooked, and it still does it, just a little less noticible.

Could this be a sign of a weak injector, or maybe some other issue. I am going to fuel up with a different fuel next time, and try some fuel conditioner to see if it helps, but it has been doing this for a couple weeks now. i is very noticible when i pull my trailer though. i now have about 150,000 km's on the truck.

Any ideas would be much appreciated....

Yes, lower quality diesel you will get some timing rattle as it is called. The best thing to do is to work the dog out of your truck. It is mostly caused by carbon buildup on the injector tips. Get the EGT's up to at least 1000 deg F and work the truck in that range. The noise goes away when the boost pressure comes up. That is why you only hear it during light or hard acceleration. Do a search, plenty of reading on it. Timing Rattle is what to search on.
