Dealer wants $55 to change oil?

Is this a good price on a Cummins? Dealer $55. Local Cummins shop wants $71.

I have changed oil on cars for years but was thinking I wouldn't mess with it on this since my tools and time are limited. (Heard oil filter is a pain to get off)

If you do it yourself what does it cost total? Is it worth it?

My first oil change at the dealer cost 70 so thats sounds reasonable. I always do it my self now and running synthetic it cost about 50. If you use regular oil it usually cost about 30 dollars and is really easy to do. That first oil change is kinda tough (I know from my 02) but just use a filter wrench and you'll be fine.

I think my oil is just under 10 bucks a gallon (delo 400)
and I would think the filter is about 10-12 bucks so it should cost around 40 or so bucks just in parts. I am sure I could find my stuff cheaper but the place I work lets me get oil and filters for free so I cant pass that up, I do mine myself.

That would be nice, I really only got the xzt for mileage and I just put it on about two hours ago. How do you like the edge, I had one on my 02 that is for sell and it was a good product, just couldn't pass the price on the quad.

Yeah i hope the horse power bug doesn't bite me too hard. It did on my last one and i just ended up breaking stuff, mostly my injector pump. You should put it up on the classifieds here I probably would have bought it if I had seen it there but i'm glad i bought from the site store to contribute thanks larry

buddy puts a gallon zip loc bag around oil filter, catches drips.

it's not that hard, if you are burning the used oil in your fuel, it's Ok.

but if you have to go dump the oil, and end up have 3 then 6 then 9 gallons setting around. that's a pain.

i burn my used oil in my tank.

Forgot to mention I also got a buddy with a 500 gal oil tank that gets picked up every so often so I change mine at his shop.
